Hukum Mencerap Hilal Dari Satelit

Keputusan: 
Muzakarah Jawatankuasa Fatwa Majlis Kebangsaan Bagi Hal Ehwal Ugama Islam Malaysia Kali Ke-81 yang bersidang pada 31 Mac 2008 telah membincangkan mengenai Hukum Mencerap Hilal Dari Satelit. Muzakarah telah memutuskan bahawa buat masa ini belum ada keperluan untuk menggunakan satelit bagi mencerap hilal dalam menentukan bulan-bulan qamariah khususnya Ramadhan, Syawal dan Zulhijjah memandangkan kaedah hisab dan rukyah yang digunakan masih sesuai. Walau bagaimana pun untuk tujuan penyelidikan dan merakam pergerakan bulan penggunaan satelit adalah diharuskan.

The Ruling on Observing the Crescent from the Satellite

Decision:

The 81st Muzakarah (Conference) of the Fatwa Committee of the National Council for Islamic Religious Affairs Malaysia held on 31st March 2008 has discussed the Ruling on Observing the Crescent from the Satellite. The Conference decided that for the time being, there is no need to use the satellite to observe the crescent in determining the months of the lunar calendar especially Ramadan, Syawal and Zulhijjah as the present methods of calculation (hisab) and observation (rukyah) are still relevant and appropriate. Nevertheless, for the purposes of research and recording the movements of the moon, the use of the satellite is permitted.
